I have a 1992 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue.  I never activate the security system, yet sometimes when I open the door, the horn starts beeping, lights flash, and I have to close the door, lock it with the key, then unlock to stop everything!  The system just starts on its own and is a pain in the neck.  Is there a way to disconnect this system?  It came with the car when it was brand new off the show room floor.  Thanks

Go over to the Chrysler dealership, and get a remote for it.

Thanks for your advice, but I want to "disable" the system permanently because it shouldn't activate on its own when I don't turn it on in the first place.  The doors are unlocked, and when any one of the doors is opened, it starts doing its thing!  Then you have to close the door, use the key to lock and unlock the driver's door to get it to shut off.

The factory alarm in your car is located above the glovebox.  Find the lt. GREEN/ orange wire coming out of the brain...then tap into this wire and ground it.  This will  disable the factory alarm permanently!
