I installed an Audiovox 966a and it works but the range is dissapointing. I was wondering if I it would help any if I switched to the DEI antenna, they both use 4 pins on thier plugs, DEI is about 3 times longer that that stubby one that comes with the Prestige 966a. Let me know if it possible.

I am not sure if you are even able to use a dei antenna with this system. There might be a problem with your system or just a bad antenna even though I have never encountered a problem with these. The last one of these that I installed I was able to start the car from 5 blocks away.

I really don't think the alarm is defective I just think the range sucks. I forgot where I read the range on the APS 966a is only about 1000'. If I had a 5 block range I would be very happy. I'll live with it for now but I will upgrade when I find a good deal on a better unit in the future.

try moving the antenna. sometimes that helps, esp if the car has some sort of factory tint at the top.
