i am new here and sure could use some help. so far i have two dozen bumps from beating my head trying to figure this thing out.(no hair left either) i have successfully got to the point of remote start. engine cranks and tries to start but don't. my truck is a base model so i dont think i need the bypass module.( i can start it with a walmart made key) but i may be wrong. the tach wire i have connected at the back of the cluster (white wire) the brake is connected at the pedal on the white also. i have the alarm hooked into the pink ingnition wire, should i use the white instead (trucks wiring)? i have spent a day and a half to get this far. but i am lost now. all help is very appreciated. (also, why is it so hard to find wiring diagrams for newer vehicles? is it a corporate consipacy?)

Battery: Red
Ignition 1: Pink - MUST BE POWERED UP
Ignition 2: White - MUST BE POWERED UP
Accessory: Orange
Accessory 2: Brown (Optional 99% of the time)
Starter: Yellow
Parking lights: Gray/black (-) @ BCM
Brake: White @ Switch
Horn: Black or BLACK / YELLOW @ Steering column

You also should need a passlock 2 module. Passlock 2 doesn't have anything in the key and can be started with any key, as you found out. Try powering up both ignition wires and see if that makes any difference. If not, get yourself a bypass module I would suggest a PLDATA. When attempting to start it, does any icon on the dash flash? Also have you learned the tach to the system yet? Couple things to check. Good luck,

Mike

You will find that knowlege is king when it comes to new vehicles.

also,..

Passlock does not use a special key, but rather the physical turning of the IGN. barrel, as anti-theft, this is why your wall mart key starts it.

  NowYaKnow,

the system has learned the rpm. at least i do believe it has. the led flashed and all when i started engine. now how would i go about powering up both ingnition wires?posted_image and if that dont work, i guess i will have to get the passlock 2 module. now were is my passlock located and how hard is it to hook up. in my install manual i  dont see anything about passlock.....

i'm trying, and appreciate the help so far.

If your unit doesn't have an ignition 2 output, then you want to use 2 relays off of the ignition 1 output, like so:

RELAY 1

85: To Ignition 1 + output
86: To Ground
30: To Fused 12v Constant (20a)
87: To Pink Ignition 1 wire in car

RELAY 2

85: To Ignition 1 + output
86: To Ground
30: To Fused 12v Constant (20a)
87: To White Ignition 2 wire in car

Remember, the pink and white wires BOTH MUST be powered up. Neither one is optional.

If you go with the PLDATA bypass for passlock 2, it is only a 4 wire hookup and taps into the purple wire at the diagnostic connector. I would recommend this for it's ease of installation. The other thing you need to know is what the ignition 3 (-) output, active (-) output, or status (-) output (just some common things this wire is labelled as) is on your unit. This has to connected to the pldata. Not familiar with autopage but if you list your specific unit someone might be able to tell you which wire this is. Good luck,

Mike

If the unit doesn't have a 2nd ignition , you only need one relay, wire a relay like this. The primary ignition wire (PINK) you don't need a relay for.

well after several futile attemps to locate a pldata bypass module, still never found one. the only thing i could come up with was a dei 555u. now the guy at the shop says that it will work, but i believe it is for the rf keys. which mine dont have. but will it still work? i just picked up the other relay today. boy, somethings are hard to find in smaller areas. so i will hook it up. and see what i get, but as far as the other 555u thing. i would like to know if it will work or not?

A 555U will not work for a passlock 2 vehicle. A 555L will work, although a little bit tougher to hookup than a PLDATA.

Jeff's diagram for powering up the 2nd ignition wire will also work, although I still prefer the 2 relay method.

Good luck,

Mike

well i am waiting on the pldata to arrive, found one on the internet. $38 with shipping. hope that wasn't to bad. so as soon as it arrives i will try and hook it up and see what i got afterwards. i appreciate the help so far, and i might need more in the future.

You can't mess up with a PLDATA. Make sure you have the second Ignition wire powered. The Autopage should have a 2nd ignition output so you wont need an extra relay.
