I have a Crimestopper CS-2011RS Series III (
Manual) Alarm/Starter that I installed myself. I have had it in and functioning correctly for several months without a problem at all.
I recently decided that I wanted the "dome light illumination output" function to turn my lights on inside my car when disarming. I got the wires and hooked them to a relay correctly to turn on the lights. After doing this, my alarm will no longer lock or unlock the doors when I push the buttons on the remote. The unit will start the car, the siren chirps, and the alarm is fully functional in all other aspects.
Also, the red wire in the harness with the lock and unlock wires that is supposed to have 12+ volts constant doesn't have any current.
I have tried replacing fuses and moving the ground to another location, although I know the original location was perfect. I also tried removing every other harness from the unit except the power connections, ground connection, and the lock/unlock harness and that didn't work either.
Does anyone have any ideas?

What make/model/year is your car? if you are using external relays for the doorlocks and you are supplying those relays with that red wire...change the source to your fused constant input to the brain.
It's a 91 Pontiac Sunbird. I didn't have external relay's wired to the locks because they are positive locks and in the manual there is a diagram showing how to connect those wires with IN4001 diodes then connect the wire into the switch wires.
I contacted the tech support line and the guy I talked to was no help. He tried to tell me that the wires are supposed to be connected to relays as the negative side of the coil. I didn't try to explain how the manual says otherwise or the fact that it has been working for several months.
