Hello all.  I have a 2000 S10 and since brand new (I put designtech remote start on right away)  I would set off the factory alarm every so often.

I finally figured out it is because the factory disarm lead was never hooked up.  My question is I found a 14awg wire in the driver's door panel, but every where I read it is supposed to be a light green wire.   Mine is neither light in color or gauge.  It had about 5K ohms to ground, reguardless of weather key was in door or not.  I also tried locking and unlocking both with key and pushbutton in door.

What I did was run a jumper from this wire to ground.  Will I hurt anything by doing this?  No need for factory alarm, as I have aftermarket installed.

What do you mean b " every so often " ? If the system is not properly bypassed, it will be set off every time you try to remote start the vehicle. Make sure that the unit is properly outputting a (-) signal to the wire that you have as your OEM DISARM wire and if your not wanting the OEM disarm any way, just permanently ground the wire.
