hey guys i've heard that you can hook up your aftermarket alarm siren to a button and make it chirp whenever the button is pushed.... i figured all you would have to do is run an extra wire from the + of the siren to the battery and add a button/switch in between?? but then i figured how would the siren sound if it doesn't know which frequency to produce... anyway, how would one go about doin something like this??

btw, i have a crimestopper cs-2013fm system...

THANKS!

you could take a relay and wire it to have a (-) activation form an extra remote channel and output a (+) signal.  however, i think that will make most sirens output the normal siren sound for the duration of the channel output.  maybe if the output is short enough you get a chirp.

exact same way...use a momentary push switch and a relay.... very simple... push switch trips the relay to power the siren

you dont need a relay just hook one wire to fused 12v and the other from the switch to the + input to siren

For that ^^^, you would need a switch that can handle around 1 amp. Also you will need a fuse. If you want a relay then wire it like this

how would a relay make a difference? it would just make sure that the output was short?

what difference would the relay make?

it would cope with the load required by the siren, which may or may not be more than a push switch will handle

^^^^   Exactly, that way you can use a small momentary pushbutton switch. Like https://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5fid=275-1571
that switch only accepts 0.5 amp but it is nice and small, you you could put it almost anywhere, and using it to control a relay you can control up to 30amps if you had to. Plus it is usually easier to replace a relay then it is to replace a switch. Even though your car will probably die before the relay or switch for how much you will probably use it.

ok in simple english just buy a button from radioshack...take some wire (speaker wire works well) attach each side to each side of the button...run one side to the battery and the other to the siren itself...you can cut the wire going to the siren and use a connector to connect all 3 ends together...push the button...now u got your booty call =)

^^^^ if you are going to do that, just make sure that the switch that you get can handle the amperage that the siren is going to use. Otherwise you will have a fried switch in no time at all, almost instantlyposted_image .
