shouldnt be any risk if you are using a model specifically desgned for a manual tranny

i connected the tach wire to a fuel injector wire and it still doesnt read...do you think thats the prob?

and im doing a custom install with an ULTRASTART TL2250 (TL = tachless learning). its meant for auto trannys but i want it in my celica.

i dont want to have to go through the stupid reservation mode shut down crap that comes with a manual starter.

i can get it to start but it shuts off after 15 secs...

when it does start through remote, the starter stays engaged for almost 10 secs...

any thoughts would help...

sounds like it is till expecting to read a tach signal.   it's possible that the default setting of this unit is for tach-connected mode....there should be programming options to bring it to tach-less mode. upon having selected this mode, you should disconnect whatever you've connected to the tach sensing wire, and start your car with the key and let it run for around 30 seconds. there should be some form of indication through parking lights, led lights, or siren/horn to indicate that the unit has learned to ignition sense. also, the primary ignition wire of this unit must be connected to primary ignition of your celica and not anything else like accessory or heater.

good luck!

If the system is in TL and you have it attached to an injector wire, there's the problem. You have to set it to learn a tach signal first and get the system out of tachless mode.
