I got a prestige alarm model aps-785. The local shop installed it and anytime you remote start it with the doors locked the factory alarm goes off.  At first they said they couldnt do anything so I never went back and 6 months later I show up complaining about their install. They try to redo it and still cant get it right, they have had it 3 times. It was put into a 2000 nissan xterra. They claim that none of the wires their diagram mentions is the factory disable wire. To me it seems like something is wrong with their alarm. I searched on here and found a little bit. Do you think the alarm isnt sending a signal to the locks to disable it. What do you guys think thanks for any help

OK well this install shop sounds like they suck lol. On all audiovox remote start systems there should be a 4 pin plug. Two of the wires on this plug are BLACK / YELLOW and BLACK/ blue. All of these four wires are set to send out a negative pulse at different times. The BLACK/ blue sends one out right b4 the remote starter starts and the BLACK / YELLOW sends one out after it has started.

Since this cars factory alarm and disarm wires are the same as the keyless entry lock and unlock wires those two wires must be used. The BLACK/ blue must be wired in with the unlock wire and the BLACK / YELLOW with the lock wire. What this does is when you remote start the car the car will unlock briefly to turn off the factory alarm and then will relock once it is started. This will fix your problem definitly. Hope this helps.

A single pulse to the unlock wire will disarm the factory alarm without unlocking the doors. So just use the wire that Autoobsession suggested to pulse once before remote start and your good to go.

They might have not installed the plug so I would take it back there and have them do it. If they dont have one they have to get one for you since they didnt use it. If they sell audiovox that shouldnt be a problem.

All of the recent Audiovox remote starters have this 4 pin plug. Since they are not needed on every install I am sure they have them in stock.
