you guys give me some idea, how far is 1/4 mile?  1320 feet.

Autopage 850 (what I have) claims 1/4 mile transmit and 2000 ft receive (~3/8 mile)  so does that mean my status request won't get thru if my alarm is triggered it can still page me?

Anyway I was at costco I parked at the furthest spot possible, I walk in by the end of the warehose I cannot request status of the car anymore.

Also, I read the manual it says to point the antenna up.. and upper left corner where I have put it that way.   I read the manual for the marksman, same brain, same looking antenna it says it's best to point it sideways.  So what's the deal?  I also routed my  wires under the carpet and not coil the excess in one spot.

Hey dude

My autopage 850 remote range is not as good as my old Compustar 2000 remote. I get about 1.5 blocks when i have a clear line of site to the car. In a building it gets worse. My compustar gets about the same with line of site, but in buildings I find the compustar better.
My antenna is in the upper left of my windshield pointing to the right. I have a 2000 pathfinder if that makes a difference. Another beef of mine is the volume on the remote sucks compare to Compustar.

So you are comparing to the Compustar FM right not the SS.

The sound and vibrate is a joke on the autopage.. I cannot hear or feel it.   You must be like sitting in an office to be able to hear it.

I think my next car is getting the compustar... even if the remote is like 3x the size..

The remote size is not that bad for the Compustarposted_image I've seen and installed alarm/remote start systems where the remote control is about the size of a small cell phone !!

yes i am comparing autopage 850 to COmpustar 2000 (FM), cannot verify how good the newer SS COmpustar's are.

I didnt like my compustar so I went with Autopage because of the features. The newer compustar's sound ok as well but there are only a few installers that sell it where I live (its a mom & pop) store so I aint letting them mess with my truck.

Anybody know if another remote that is compatible with the Autopage 850 that is louder? I had the autopage for a month now and it seems rock solid, only complaint is the low volume, vibe feature is great but also sucks.

I am not sure if you can swap remotes back and forth.. if anything they are probably the same things too.. just a diff casing.

I just find when I walk further into a big store I cannot transmit to the car, hopefully if someone triggers the alarm it can still reach my remote though.

What about the autopage 750 remote? Is it possible to program that remote for the 850? How is the volume on that remote?
