Hey Im going to install a compustar on a 2001 nissan pathfinder. I know I need a bypass module, but I dont want one that needs the key to stay in the car. Does anyone know where to get a bypass module that does not require the key to stay? I've seen some that learn the key but would I need that plus the bypass module??

Thanx

There are modules available that are keyless, but you need a scan tool to learn the module meaning that you need to bring it to the dealership to program.

When you get your spare key, bring of your other pathfinder keys to the dealer. They have to reprogram all your keys not just the new spare one. Programming just the spare renders the other ones inoperable, dont ask me how i know this, found out the hard way. Let us know how the compustar works out. I had an old compustar 2000AS, changed it to an autopage 850

Jeff, you sell those Nissan modules on your site, correct? I was just curious if you have to have the remote start installed before you program the bypass module, or if you can just have it programmed and then take it home and hook it up.

Krazyborri, another suggestion if you're worried about security is to cut the shaft off of the key so it can't be used to start the car if found by a thief.

chriswallace187: I have everything hooked up and then go to the dealership to get it programmed. What I do normally is install the remot start, ensure that I can start it witht he key in the ignition and then hook up the bypass module an then get a scan tool to program the module.

Cutting the shaft is a really good idea. I never thought of that. Thanx Chriswallace187
