I just installed an Audiovox aps-255 in my 2003 Ram. This is the first alarm I have installed and I think I may have messed something up
Everything seems to work ok, except when I open/close a door then go to arm it, it won't let me. Nothing happens at all. I have to wait about a minute and then press the lock button and it will arm.
Any ideas what I did wrong here? thanks
I have a 2001 ram and my truck has a time delay for the interior lights after you close the door. The prestige alarms have an option to program the time of the interior lights. This will allow the alarm to set. You can find this information in the programing manual. The alarm is not setting itself because it sees and open/triggered zone.
Hope this helps

I installed my alarm about a day ago and just finished with the window modules. Everything works great.

Maybe check the wiring diagrams for the doors on the first page on that link.
Use independent door triggers and diode isolate them to get around this problem.

I promise to be good.
Tell Darwin I sent you.
I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.
Thanks for the responses
I used the door triggers (TAN and TAN/RED) with diode isolation and not the dome light. The alarm won't arm for about 30 seconds after the dome light goes out. If I turn off the dome light it doesn't matter; it still takes a long time before it lets me arm it
I guess I could use the passive arming and it should work after a minute, but I would much prefer active arming
It could very well be a bad Brain. Bring it back to the place you bought it from and exchange it. I have installed plenty of alarms and I have come across some bad ones. It may not be a wiring issue
