Hi, I have had problem where my car won't start. I can't hear anything except a beep from the dashboard and see the battery and check engine light comes on. I have a Honda Civic '98. The Honda dealer has put a new alternator and starter and I put a new battery. The problem resurfaced 2 Saturdays ago, but I was able to start the car after a 3rd try. After taking the car to the dealer again, they could not recreate the problem and said it might be something with the car alarm not allowing the car starting. I have a Viper alarm. Has anybody had this same problem? Thanks.

the starter relay may be hanging up, gonna have to bust out themeter and a haynes manual and follow the starter wire.

First step is to bypass the starter kill relay. Sometimes relays can go bad and cause problems.

here's an obvious check that so many people (including myself) always tend to miss.....check to see if the battery terminals are tight. i can't tell you the number of times that i've seen them loose after a new battery has been put in. that would be why it works for you sometimes. oh, btw, make sure they're clean too.

Thanks Simns and everybody else. I have not been able to recreate the problem. The dealer said that they tested the starter relay and its fine. Even to replace it would be very expensive because they said in my car, it is inside the computer. I was going to have Circuit City take a look at my alarm since they installed it...
