Hey guys, Well today I completed the installation of a Clifford Avantguard G5 on my 2002 Yukon. But unfortunately there's two things that aren't working correctly. The first is the remote start. I used a 555L module for the passlock. The truck tries to turn on but dies Imediately. I followed the troubleshooting tips in the instructions of the 555L which lead me to my question. On the module there's a blue/black wire which is labeled as (-) status input. The instructions say to "connect this wire to (-) status output (blue/black or blue) of the Directed remote start system". I did this, but the thing is that on the intellistart the blue/black wire is labeled as "Negative switching Wait-to-start bulb (deisel)", was this the correct connection to make? This is the only thing that I can think of as being wrong. I doubled check the other connections and they were ok. (black yellow from 555L going to BCM side of yellow wire from passlock, Yelllow from 555L going to igition side of the yellow wire from passlock, Black from 555L going to ORANGE / black on passlock, ignition and constant checked ok) Any ideas??
The second problem I'm having, is that the doors aren't locking/unlocking when the alarm is armed/disarmed. I Identified my door locking system as a three-wire positive (hopefully someone can verify this for me). Using wiring diagrams that I found on this site and ones that were include witht the alarm, I then proceeded to make the connections as stated in the clifford manual. I connected the GREEN/ black from the alarm labeled as "lock 30 (common)" to the light blue wire on the brown plug of the bcm. I then connected the Blue/Black wire from the alarm, labeled as "Unlock 30 (common)" to the white wire on the brown plug of the bcm. I then connected the violet and violet/black of the alarm, both to a 12v constant. There's a bluw/white wire on the alarm labeled as "Second unlock output" I didnot connect this to anything. Was I supposed to? If so what would this connect to? Is there any another part of the alarm install that would affect the doors not locking and unlocking?? I noticed that in the diagrams, they list wires for "Lock Motor" and "unlock Motor" but I didn't come across anything in the installation manual of the alarm that asked for these. Hopefully you guys can give some ideas of where to start looking for errors. Thanks for any help in advance. And sorry for the long post but I wanted to be as clear and specific as possible.

am not familiar w/ this particular clifford unit, but here i go.
dont use the desiel wire, use a wire thay may say: status output(-), neg when crank/RS, or neg for third ignition.
the doorlock is Type A postive, just simply plug the wire to it.
| POWER LOCK|lt. blue |+ |brown plug at BCM *1 |
| POWER UNLOCK|white |+ |brown plug at BCM *1 |
*1 The BCM is located behind the drivers side of the dash. The plugs on the BCM face towards the rear of the vehicle. The parking lights are in pin A5 and the headlights are in pin A11.

Thanks. I'll try that neg for third ignition. As for the door locks, that's exactly what I did. I guess I'll have to keep checking...

He is right, you have to use the BLUE/ORANGE third ignition trigger from the intellistart for your status output. ------------- Clifford Alarms

For the door locks: According to your info, it seems to me that it should work. The H2/1 and the H2/6 wires of the AG5 should not be connected to anything. The blue/white wire on the alarm labeled as "Second unlock output" should not be used either. Your car has a type A relay driven system (page 25 AG5 install manual) did you get the right wires? The power lock wire is Light blue on pin A4 of the brown plug at BCM The power unlock wire is White on pin A3 of the brown plug at BCM Other than that it should work fine ------------- Clifford Alarms

Quick update: You guys are going to hate me for this. For the door locks, I forgot to put a fuse in the wires that go to 12v constant. DOH!! I feel like a dope. Of course now they work just fine. Thanks guys... Now I have to go back to try and fix the remote start.

Well I gave up for the day. I tried wiring the blue/black wire from the 555L to the blue/orange of the intellistart and still no go. There's one connection that I made on the intellistart harness that I wasn't too sure about and that was the WHITE/ violet labeled as "factory alarm disarm". If I made the wrong connection on this would that keep it from remote starting?? I connected the WHITE/ violet from the I.S. to a lt. green wire on the purple plug at BCM. By the way, the previous post by CiscoRed is me. I didn't realize I was logged in as my bro...

Where did you ground the 555L? Does the security light in the instrument cluster come on and stay on when you try to remote start the truck? With the key in the run postition will the vehicle remote start?

After it attempts to remote start, the security light flashes. The truck is able to start fine with the key but no luck with the remote start. I attatched the black wire of the 555L to the orange black of the passlock per the directions of the 555L. I'm thinking there might be something else in the installation of the intellistart that might be wrong because I've rechecked the connections of the 555L several times and they are done just the way it says in the installation booklet. The only thing I'm uncertain of is that blue/black wire of the 555L that I mentioned in my original post. But I tried what someone suggested and that didn't work either. I will write down the exact connections I made on the intellistart module and post them here and then maybe someone might see an error I made. I appreciate your guys' help. THanks

Ok , Today I got the truck to remote start, but I'm not sure if its working properly. A question that auex asked was answered today and that was will the truck start with the key on the run position via remote start. The answer is yes it will start with the key on the run position via remote start. The thing I'm not sure about is the security light is it suppose to be on/off when its remote started and if it stays on does that mean I connected it wrong. Right now its connected to wire to the alarm. Info: GMC 2002 Yukon SLT Thanks for the Help..................

Ok, if it remote started with the key in the cylinder then there is something wrong with the wiring of the 555L or the 555L was bad out of the box, it is known to happen. First thing first, unplug the 555L for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and start the truck with the key. Then ground the BLACK/ blue and try to remote start the truck. If it works then you haven't found the correct output wire from the alarm. If it doesn't work double check the wiring, if the wiring checks out then you may have a bad module but verify with 100% confidence that the wiring is correct. Where did you tag the yellow Rcode wire at? Try tagging it in the ign harness to be sure that it is the correct wire. If the alarm is pretty new and was manufactured by dei then you need to use the third ignition output as stated before for the activation input. It is on the 12 pin harness that has the brake input and hood trigger input.

First I like to begin this post by saying thanks to Profuse, Laren5, & Auex for there info. and help with the minor problems I encounter with the install of the AG5 system. I began the day by following Auex advice and rechecking the wiring on the 555L unit. Then I followed the next step to unplug it and wait the 30 sec. etc. To no surprise the truck did not remote start. I decided to troubleshoot all the wires that needed the 12v with the DMM. I came to the conclusion that the pink wire on the 555L was not getting a 12v during the remote start sequence. The reason this happened was because I had connected it to the ignition key side area of the wire (the immobilizer unit does not allow a 12v until the key is in the run position). This didn't allow the 555L to grab the R-code and was causing the truck not to start via remote start. I can now say that the AG5 is working properly .............and once again Thanks to Profuse, Laren5, and Auex for the help........ Also I like to thank Ciscored for helping with the install and taking on the challange...!!!!!!!!!!!!!
