I have a question about this quote:
 
"The problem with this is that after 40 minutes teh door trigger wires loose power and where there was once a (+) signal is now resting at nothing . If your alarm system is hooked up to this wire then it wil think that the doors were opened because the current is not there. Also, the GEM controls the door locks and takes power away from the door lock system until it is "woken up " with the OEM FOB remote or with a key in the door lock cylinder."
 
 
I have this problem with my 2000 Ford Ranger and I dont know how to fix it. I have the (-)door trigger input of my alarm conected to my dome light. There is always constant power to the dome light wire until the door is open. Well the GEM shuts down power after 45 minutes making my alarm mudule think my door is open because the constant power was shut off to my dome light wire. How do you get around this? Diodes arent going to help this from what I've tried to this point. Any ideas?

What color is the wire that you tied into for your door trigger?

The Dome light wire is Yellow/Black(in door) and it is tied to my (-)door trig input to my alarm. Everything works great until the GEM shuts everything off.

Ok, the first problem is that the wire you tagged is not the dome light wire, it is the driver's door pin. With only this wire tagged the only door that is protected is the driver's door, also this is the wire that is causing the problem with the falsing. What you need to do is find that wire and cut it. Then place a diode with the band facing the door inline with the door trigger. Then tag that same wire on the door side of the diode and run this to the alarm. Repeat procedure for the passenger's side door, the wire color is grey/red and is found in the passenger's kick. When you get both wires to the alarm, diode isolate them from each other and connect it to the alarm. Here is a link to DEI's tech notes on this problem, Here.

But it is the dome light wire. I've completely tested it to confirm this. The reason why I know its the dome light wire is because I have another wire connected to it that activates to the dome light when I press open on my key control. Plus if I open the passenger door the alarm will activate because of this dome light wire. Everything works as advertised except when the GEM shuts down. This problem is completely GEM related.

Well in your vehicle your domelight wire is + not negative. So I am pretty sure that you have the driver's door trigger.

yeah I have had a 2000 and now have a 2001 Ranger both have or had alarms that I have installed myself in what you need to do is tie this + trigger wire from your alarm into your black and lt blue wire that will do all your doors.This is your domelight wire.

So where exactly is the BLACK/ Blue dome light wire? I looked for three hours last night and I cant find it anywhere. I believe its probably real high up under my dash but I cant get to it. Any ideas? Is there a different place I can find the Blue/Black wire?

blue black should be right on the side of the drivers seat,i have seen them above the gas pedel also, so check them two places i know there in there i just did one 3 weeks ago, not sure if it was a 2000 or a 2002, but its there

I know its not above my gas pedal so I'll check the side of my drivers seat. After looking at a couple diagrams I have the idea that it may be there. Once I find it my alarm install should be comlete without problems. Since the dome light wire is on a positive trigger there shouldnt be any problems with the GEM shutting down. Thanks for everyones input and advice.
