Hi guys, I installed a viper 160Xv remote start, keyless entry on a 2003 silverado 2500Hd, I used the 456G interface for the keyless entry and a 555L for the Passlock bypass, Everything works except when remote starting it starts, then dies right away,  I am 100 percent positive on all of my connections except for the ground reference wire for the 555L, I hooked to the orange black in the steering column harness, I have also heard that the reference wire may be black, Does anyone have any info that could help?

Thanks, I found that the ORANGE / black in the steering column harness  and black at the bcm are actually the same wire, it  changed colors in the harness, I have verified all of my connections and still have the same problem, for some reason the module does not want to learn the proper R code, it starts fine with the key, just wont remote start, it attempts to, then dies right away, does this 3 times, then the ignition is immobilized for 10 minutes.

it should be yellow and black, cut the yellow and take the 555L yellow and BLACK / YELLOW to the appropriate sides and splice into the black with the L black.  then start it with the key for a few seconds.  you should be fine after that.

also, make sure you have ign, ign2, accy, and accy2 wired up.  if you dont, the 555L wont matter.  the truck will have an improper start sequence.

I know on some GM's there's like 3 or 4 different yellow wires. Did you happen to find the correct yellow wire? That might be the reason behind the vehicle not wanting to start and learn the correct resistance code.

actually DEI themselves recommend that you use chassis ground for the 555L passlock ground wire on this vehicle...disconnect the passlock ground wire and take it to a good ground on the firewall.....

yes, I am sure I have the correct r code wire, if it remains cut the vehicle wont start with the key, after interfacing it will start with the key, I will try to ground the 555L to chassis ground and see if it will learn the code

Thanks for the info

really? after all the years of "ground it to the ground ref wire" speeches from the tech guys?

I actually have been told the same thing on many occasions, ground to the passlock ground, by dei tech support, if you can call them that.

You guys rock!!!!   I am truly amazed, I grounded the black wire from the 555L to a chassis ground instead of tapping into the orange black ground reference wire, and it worked like a dream.  Now I can quit scratching my head and move on to the next one.  I definitely wont let this get past me again!

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate it, hope I can help one of you out in the future sometime.
