i took the alarm i installed in my friends 02 Navigator and installed it in his 04 Explorer. there was no problems until later that night he called saying he would set the alarm and it would go of within a minute. it doesnt do it all the time but i cant figure it out. i thought maybe its a domelight delay related problem so he set his domelight delay to 0 seconds and it still does it. but not all the time, its a cheap rattler alarm. i think maybe the alarm itself is messed up but it worked fine in the navigator and now in the explorer its acting funny, could it be just a coincidence and the alarm really is faulty? anyone have suggestions? its not the shock sensor, i checked that already, its secure. im gonna go look at it tommorrow, im just stuck for suggestions as to what could be the problem...any help appreciated, thanks in advance!

I would narrow down the possibilities by unplugging each of the trigger points one at a time. It takes longer this way, but at least you'll be thorough in your search for the problem. First one that I would do is the hood pin switch as it's the easiest one to test. Next would be tyhe door triggers and then the shock sensor and then what ever else you have attached as a trigger point.

i would install an isolation relay on the door triggers and that will take care of it

oh yeah, i didnt do a hood pin, just a shock sensor and a door trigger, its a cheap alarm

Even though it has only one door trigger, most fords require a diode in line with the door trigger and one coming from the alarm to eliminate falsing. Another option would be to connect dome light supervision to override the domelight delay.

see im not sure if its the domelight or not. we set it to go off as soon as the door shuts and it still does it. but only sometimes. like he can drive somewhere, set it and it will go off in a minute. but then disarm it and arm it a few times and it will keep going off but after a few times it works fine. this is weird

Its hard to say with out knowing what zone it was for sure. Most of even the cheap alams will let you know someway what zone triggered. Thru the menu or light/led flashing. If you find out post again. The new 04 have a lot of fun stuff. Does it have a GEM module? I have seen backfeeding problams with them. Is the horn honking too? Most new fords come with two "keyed" keys. Is it doing it with both keys? If you look on the back they are labled...

Does the alarm trigger if you remove the battery ground terminal? Although the it's only 2 years old, factory batteries are usually only good for about four to five years. With an alarm system some will trigger with as little as 1.5V drop. This is the most likely if you have already diode isolated the BCM module. Stuart
