Anyone done this? Got any horror stories or tips?

I'm assuming that it's electrically possible, but that it takes some care on the part of the vehicle owner. :)

Obviously you don't want to have the car in gear and push that little button, but is there anything worse that could happen? (Worst case I can think of is a car in gear with no parking brake applied.)

Seems like RS with a garaged car carries just as much risk.

make sure that you put in a unit specifically designed for manual transmissions....

and units going into ATTACHED garages are supposed to be toggle switched off every time you park in the garage to prevent accidental starting

I haven't seen any alarms that support manual tranmissions. I'm looking at the Viper 791XV. It specifically states that it's only for fuel-injected automatic-tranmission vehicles. Sounds more like lawsuit prevention than a technical limitation.

if youre lookin at 791xv, take a look at the compustar while youre at it. theyre design to be use in MT cars. there are couple units outhere too but thats teh one that cross my mind right now.

Don't forget to use search...it's a valuable tool and you'll usually find what your asking has been asked by many others before you. I bought a Neutral Safety Switch made by Peripherial. It is supposed to make any remote start work safely on a manual transmission.

I am waiting to recieve my Viper 791xv in the mail. I will be installing it as soon as I get it.

I will let you guys know how it works out.

Hmm, quote doesn't seem to work.

radiantx, that's exactly the sort of information I was looking for. Be sure and let us know how your install goes!

hey what you want to do is remove the lockout on your clutch like what i had done to my car...mainly because stepping on the clutch and starting the car wears out my faulty crankshaft bearing...got to love eclipse turbos =( ...as long as you leave your car in neutral when you park you'll be fine

Luckily for me they weren't doing the lockout thing in '79.   I'm going to do the hood latch/e-brake trick to give me some stupidity protection. I'm not personally in the habit of leaving this car in gear so my only fear is some valet doing it and trying to use the RS.

3 Car alarms that safely remote start manuals. Compustar #1, Autopage 850 #2, and AST Ultrastarter (Canada) #3 in order of use. You have to be an Autopage installer to get ahold of tech. They will help you. By the way checkout the CompuStar remote. THE CLAW!

It seems like a pretty nifty little module.
