on 3rd gen cavaliers, how to you go about connecting the harness in the steering column, take thew whole dash off or the cover around the column bynthe steering wheel? if so, how do you get the tilt lever off so the plastic cover will come off?

To get to the wiring harness you'll need to take the cover off of the steering wheel. As for the tilt lever you'll want to take a towel and a some vice grips to get that thing off. Chevy has this knack of using lock-tite on that so it'll take a couple of times to finally break it loose. Also make sure to grip it closest to the steering column as possible, just in case some how it tears up the lever it won't be that noticble. If it's to messed up i'm sure you can find a replacement one at a junkyard really cheap.

as for the airbags, i dont need to take the fuse out or anything right, just unhook the battery? anybody have any pics or anything of an install similar to the crimeguard 745i4 in a jbody?

aslong as you don't cut into the yellow sleeve for the airbags you don't have to worry 'bout them. I always liked the part 'bout disconnecting the battery 1st, how are you supposed to check the wires when there isn't any power going to it?

true, ok i was worried just touching them or even being by them may trigger the bags, im still gonna have some alarm install probs, but got alot figured out, the harness for thesteering column should cut time as long as i can get enough room to get in that area

you can unhook the harness's and pull it alil bit to get some slack. the only part that's going to be a pain is gettin the parking lights, that harness is at the top of steering column.

any tips on the lights, pics, im not going to wire to the dome light right away because ill need diode, so thatll be done at a later date, i dont have to do the complete install all at once right? can i just hook th t-harness to the column and the car still go? then proceed with the doors and such the next day

yeah with the t-harness you'll be fine. basically it'll go between the original harness and the factory plug. Makes it alot easier than trying to splice into the wire. As far as pics go i'm sorry i don't have anything for that. I'm guessing your from ohio where 'bout are ya?

ok ill keep that in mind thanks man i appreciate it, one more thing, is the diodes for the dome light the only diodes ill need or do i need them else where, cf says i need diodes for the dome light, and thats it, the tharnes and what came in the box, plus the diodes will do everything, is this correct?

yeppers, 2-1 amp diodes is all you need to cover the door triggers. If your going to do a trunk release then i'd get a relay to cover that, also if i were you i'd goto circuit city, best buy or a local car stereo shop to get yourself a 451m. That'll make it easier to do the doorlocks, becuz i think it'll need relays for it. I know it might say not to use relay's but i use them anyways just so if something happens it wont fry out the door lock part of the alarm.

they said i wont need relays or diodes for the door locks, just to get the dome light to function, on the door locks they said i just needed to tie into 2 wires

yeppers or even a dig. multimeter...anything BUT a test light. They suck and will harm the computer.
