Subject: Re-Program Alpine Alarm Remote?

Ok, I have a question pertaining to my Alpine Car Alarm. I had my keys stolen a few days ago and my only working remote was on my key chain. Is there any way that I can still keep the alarm? I have heard that you can re-code the alarm or something like that, is that possible? Or should I just get a whoel ne alarm system? Any input is appreciated.

my alpine 8026a remotes were real easy to reprogram...take apart the remote, remove the board and look at the solder pattern (numbered 1-10 either + - or in the middle)...take apart the alarm brain itself (4 screws) there are jumpers on the board (numbered 1-10 but in the opposite direction of your remote so pay attention!!!!) finally there is a blue button on the brain's board hold that down and click the arm/disarm button on the remote...you should hear 2 chirps...if this does not work you're going to have to adjust the screw on the remote itself...slowly turn it until it makes the siren chirp...good luck

On the back of the remote that I have  it says FCC ID: B23AT68 and it also says SEC-8428. What I am going to do is bring it to my local car alarm place and tell them what happened and see what they can do.

8428 is the model of the remote...i'll look up the direction on the website for you...it probably works as long as the light is blinking...don't jump to conclusions...you may need to reprogram it yourself or try a new battery...

if it's not blinking then you're probably going to have to buy another one. try finding it on ebay or something (8028 is your alarm model, the remote model is 8428) because from alpine its like $55...as for the alpine site, go to www.alpine-usa.com , click on tech center, consumer site, quick search for 8028, then download the pdf of the installation guide...

So actually could I try re-programing it myself. I read through the manual and I saw the re-programing part of it. It said that it can learn 4 new codes. If I bought a new remote could i just re program it and everythign will be ok?
