I'm trying to install a matrix 3.5 onto a 2003 Explorer and I'm kind of stuck with the wiring. This is my first time trying to install an alarm. I got the alarm to activate and go off but only with the shock sensor, the alarm won't go off when I open the door. i connected the door trigger wire to the BLACK/ lt blue connected to the body of the car at the kick panel, but I think this is wrong. I'm also wondering where is the best place to get the tachometer wire and the hood pin wire? I really don't want to run the wires from the hood to the alarm. Lastly, do I need a relay for the hatch release? I'm not sure if I should connect the alarm wire directly to the hatch wire. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

You should have connect the purple wire to the door trigger.  You will have to run your tach wire to your hood.  Just run it through the same hole that your siren wires and hood pin switch run through.  You won't need a relay for the hatch.  Use any of the (+) outputs and connect it to ORANGE / lt green or PURPLE / yellow wire in the passenger c pillar.  If the alarm doesn't have a positive output, you will need a relay.

The CSM (Central Security Module) is below the passenger side C pillar.

You also can grab that tach wire at the instrument cluster, depending on how hard it is to take apart your instrument cluster.

Thanks for the quick replies. I just have a couple last question, what happens if I don't connect the alarm to the factory alarm arm/disarm wire? And does it matter which door trigger wire I use for the alarm? I found two right at the kick panel and then there is one coming ffrom the door itself. Which one is the best to use?
