Cousin got his viper taken out of his old car and gave it to me. Untangled the mess and all and installed it in a 96 cherokee sport. Everything works. The car starts with the remote start fine. I noticed though, when it's cranking the engine the radio and heater/ A/C (whatever i have on) doesn't turn off like they normally do when i use the key to start. Is this normal or did i maybe connect something wrong( pretty sure i connected everything right). The relay satellite for the alarm had 6 12 guage wires coming from it. 2 red for 12v, a purple for the starter, orange for acc, pink for ignition and then a yellow wire. the yellow wire wasn't mentioned in the installation manual for the alarm. Either the 85 or 86 on the relay for where the yellow wire comes out of was tapped into the small guage pink wire on another relay. Since the small guage pink wire is to enable power to the ignition i figured that yellow wire must be for a 2nd igntion wire in the jeep. (anyone know if i was wrong at assuming that). Like i said though it starts nicely the way it is.. just wondering if in the winter when i leave the heater on and remote start the car if the starter will be getting enough power to get the engine going sooner with the ACC on.. Thanks for any help

Sounds like you have this wire hooked to a second ignition output from the alarm, there is really nothing wrong with it. It can be changed if so desired.

would that mean though there's a chance that one of my ignition wires aren't being grounded during the remote starting? or if that were the case the car wouldn't be starting? Think i might just take it apart again and check what's getting power and what's not during the remote start and work from there.... Thanks
i said weren't being grounded.... i meant weren't being powered....
you just have your vehicles accessory wires wired as ignition.....it won't cause any harm...just might take just tad more juice to crank over.

was reading the voltages on the wires while doing remote start and key start... found a site that had the wiring colors for a 96 jeep cherokee.
JEEP CHEROKEE 96 | | N/A |

the car has a blue wire.. has a violet .. has a yellow and 2 reds.. and an orange.. not ORANGE / black. when i was using the mutlimeter and turned the key backwards which is supposed to be another acc position the violet wire gets power.. when i turn the key towards on/start to the acc position..nothing gets power.. everything gets power except the yellow starter in the on position.. and when i turn the key a little further towards on but not enough for the starter to kick in.. the violet and orange lose power.. so i'm guessing the wiring info i have is wrong and that there's 2 acc wires and only 1 ignition... correct? if anyone can get more accurate wiring info than what i have it'd be great.. 96 jeep cherokee sport... have a few more questions.. why isn't the radio coming on or any of the wires getting power in the normal acc position just before ON anymore.. i didn't cut any wires just the starter wire for the kill switch relay.. also did the relay satellite for the alarm had 2 red wires that the manual suggests connecting to each of the 2 red power wires at the ignition.. but since when i got the alarm teh 2 red wires on teh relay satellite were connected together as one wire i left it at that and just connected it to one of the red wires.. is that fine? Thanks
k figured it out seems whoever came up with those vehicle wiring colors was wrong.. seems violet is acc wire for radio.. a/c.. heater.. etc.. and orange is 2nd acc wire for windows.. rear defrost and whatever.. there is no 2nd igntion for what i've seen.
