Hi guys, I'm hoping that somebody can help me out installing Audiovox alarm for my civic 97 LX. I'm wondering what is the "parking light" term? I tried to connect the RED / Black (+) cable to my DMM and nothing happened... what should I do to test this? I tried for handbrake, regular footbrake, and emergency signals... and nothing changed on my DMM. I wonder if check the wrong spot or the electrical system just failed?

My second question, I just want to double check if 97 civic LX has negative door trigger... I tried with DMM if the door closes it shows 12V, when open it shows nothing. Am I right?

Actually, there's something strange with my car... After I installed aftermarket CD player in circuit city, the dome light didn't light on whenever I opened any door. The dome light lights on when I switched to "ON" but never lights on when I put in "DOOR". Will it affect the alarm installation?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

wow awesome... it explains the problem I got... I will try it as soon as I get the key to open the cd player. CC didn't even return the L key to open up the cd player when I installed with them, so that I have to get a new one... sucks.

Also, how about the parking light cable? when I connect it to RED / Black, my multimeter doesn't change anything... I'm wondering which one is parking light? because I want to test to make sure it works first before doing everything else...

Please help me... and thanks a lot.

you can also grab parking lights at your fuse box.......you'll see a series of male spades......no. 3 controls your parking lights.....just hook up a female connector to your parking light wire and plug it in.

Thanks guys for the replies... actually I have already found the parking light wire, and the thing is I don't know how to test it. Until now, I'm still not sure what "PARKING LIGHT" is. Yesterday, I connect the RED / Black cable in the gray connection above fuse box to my DMM, and the value showed 0. I tried to press brake, emergency light (triangle sign), emergency brake, and still the DMM showed 0V. The thing is not that I can't find the wire, but I just don't know how to test it because I don't know what the parking light deals with.

Thanks again for your answers.

I see... apparently, I didn't try to turn on the first notch... That's why my DMM didn't do anything. I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks a lot man, it explains everything. I'm just ready to finish up this installation now :-)
