I recently purchased a second remote (DEI 479) for my alarm (python 880xp) and I can't manage to get it programmed. I tried following the instructions in the intallation manual but it doesn't seem to be working.
Can anyone provide a little insight or help? I'd appreciate it.

What installation manual....the 880XP manual or the directions on the back of the remote packaging? You have to follow the 880XP manual.
Open door, turn key on, hit valet button 8 times, hit a ninth time and hold. Hit lock button on remote...siren should chirp. Release valet button. Turn off ignition....Siren will chirp again. Test remote.

The installation manual for the 880XP was what I was following. It don't think it mentioned anything about pressing the button 8 times.
I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

Will I have to program each one of the functions (arm, disarm, remote start, etc.) or will it default to a certain setting?

I tried a few times last night and couldn't get it to work. Do I need to reset the remote or the alarm or something before it will work?
Thanks.

Finally managed to get in touch with my installer. Apparently, he locked the alarm with the computer interface. He's going to come and unlock it and program the remote for me.
Thanks for everyone's help.
