I instaled a prestige APS996A in my 2004 Chevy Tracker. Works great and I love it, except one of the big reasons I wanted it. The AC or heat wont turn on till I put the key in and hit the brake. Anyone have any ideas??

sounds like you may need to connect to a 2nd or 3rd IGN/ or ACC wire you may have missed.

Is tere a fuse on the the wire (from alarm). doulb check your conection. what kind of conection did you use? What color form alarm did you use for the ACC wire.

most heater controls are ran off a second or third ignition. From my experience with the newer Chevys there is usually a second, sometimes third ignition and sometimes a second accessory

Car stereo is a way of life. If you don't eat, sleep, breathe car audio, you don't even need to be around it.

When you put your key in and hit your brakes, you are actually disabling the remote-start and activating the car's system and that is why your AC starts to work. As per the above posts, looks like you missed either a second or third IGN or ACC. The same thing happened to me too on my car even though its a difffernet alarm and car, the principle is the same. If you are not sure, check the voltage on each IGN and ACC once your car starts without the remote=start, then check the same wires for voltage when it starts by remote-start. You'll find one of the wires without Voltage upon remote-starting. Thats the wire that needs voltage. It could also have a blown fuse or sometimes new remote-start systems come with fuses that arent in place but you have to put them in.
