Subject: On Time Payment Protection System

My girlfriend purchased a truck a couple years back which had a On Time System (www.ppsontime.com) installed in it.  Now that she's paid off the truck the dealer wants her to return to have it removed.  Problem is that she now lives about 400 miles from them.  Unfortunately she only has about 25 days left before the system doesn't allow her to start the truck anymore.  I need to get it disconnected so I can mail it back to them.  But I am not sure what's going to happen when I remove it.  Does anyone know what I need to do to disconnect it and make sure she can still start it afterwards?   I need your help desparately and would appreciate any input I could get.

Thank you

Call them and ask waht to do. They may not want you to take it out. They could charge you for it or something liek that if you not allowd to do so. better check your contract and see what it says. The best ting is to do is call them.

Actually I did.  Her contract says nothing about the system at all.  In fact she didn't even know it had it until they were delivering her the vehicle.  Almost like a "Oh Yeah, this devise is in your vehicle".   I called them and they were very adament that she return the truck for them to remove it.  I can't see driving 400 miles for that.  Can't do it in the next 25 days anyway.  I want to remove it and ship it to them.  If they feel they need to charrge for it good luck collecting on it.  That's what I say.

If the truck is payed off then I would threaten a lawsuit if they decide to disable the starter without just cause. If the contract says nothing about it then I would let them disable it then sue the living crap out of them anyways. If it is not in the contract that you have to return it then tell them to F off or pay someone to come out and remove it. Also it is illegal to track someone without there consent, if there is nothing in the contract about this then there is another reason to sue, invasion of privacy. At any rate, all you should have to do is reconnect the starter wire under the dash or where ever the relay is. Also if you decide to disconnect it, IMO you should hack the crap out of important parts like data cables or anything else that would ruin it. I hate used car salesman.

Trust me, if I was their with her at the time she would never driven that truck off the lot with that installed in it.  No matter how much she liked it.  It's been a pain in the ass to her.   Now they are being jerks about her coming in to have them remove it.

I would find a local shop willing to do it cheaply. I think we charge the used car place like $25 to install them. Once you find someone willing to do it have the dealership call the place and give them authorization to remove it.

If you feel you can do it yourself it's only 5 or 6 wires all are tapped in except for one (starter wire). Cut off all the tapped in ones (and tape up any exposed wire) and then cut the last two off and reconnect the wire.

At any rate I would wait for their approval in removing it or having it removed. Make sure to tell them you will send them the towing bill once the car no longer starts posted_image
