Greetings,

We're having a few issues with a vehicle at my install location. Im looking to see if anyone has had similar problems with the code alarm 645's or remote starts on '04 Tundras. The vehicle in question has been back several times with the same issue and I intend to fix it or return/refund the whole product and install on Wed. I am sick of having this car in my bay and tired of giving the customer the runaround.

The Culprit:

Code Alarm CA-645

The Vehicle:

2004 Toyota Tundra Double Cab V-8

The Problem:

Remote start intermittent.

Original installer could not locate the proper tach wire behind glovebox for whatever reason so the alarm brain was set to tachless mode. If the main harness is disconnected from the alarm brain and re-connected the remote start will operate correctly once or twice or until the key is inserted and the vehicle is set to acc position or started manually. After this time, the vehicle will start on command via the tx transmitter, but it will shut down after 10-15 seconds and then re-start the vehicle again. This will continue over and over until the system is shut down by hand or transmitter and power is reset to the alarm brain.

I have tried swapping the brain but the problem is still occuring. Also tried learning Tach wire at ECU with both brains and neither one will learn.

I plan to double test the tach wire again on Wed along with comparing tech sheets from databases other than our own in hopes that I can somehow get one of these damnable brains to learn tach properly.

Our business (and myself) is fairly new to the CodeAlarm systems but from what I have been hearing and experienced these things are total piles of crap that dont even deserve to be sold at swap meets in Tijuana.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

I plan to do so on Wed if I can't resolve the issue within another hours worth of troubleshoot time. The joker who owns the truck keeps showing up after code tech support is closed. I think I finally drilled it into his head today about coming in before they close so I can get some possible answers on the phone.

However, getting some information from others who may have worked on and installed similar systems would be invalueable also. posted_image

Precursor,

I have seen many problems with tachless mode. I would try this tach wire.  But I am showing this for the tach location on this truck.

Tach  Signal:

Black or Blue/White (AC)

Instrument cluster
