I understand how a diode functions, but I am having trouble seeing the application (or what conditions warrants it use) in which they relate within this topic.. Can someone explain the where’s, why’s, and when’s of diode isolation use to me…..?

You can diode isolate doors, isolate right and left parking lights on european cars such as VW, just a couple off the top of my head but there are much more.
