I would first like to say thanks for the wiring diagram i got off of this great site.  Well my problem is that I've been working on installing this alarm system and have run into a few snags.  I am usually quite good at this stuff but the instruction booklet has taken me for a curve. I would appreciate any assistance with this specific alarm and the connections that need to be done on my truck.

Thanks In Advance

Brad

What snags have you run into?

These are the connections that need to be made:

Power
Ground
Ign 1
Ign 2
Acc 1
Brake
Parking light

lock
unlock

Door Trigger: usually dome light
Hood Pin: (optional but should be installed)
Tach source: For remote start

Well I got snagged on the part where its says i must connect a light blue wire that is used to provide a 300mA ground output.

I should have been a little more clear earlier about it also being a remote start, since thats where i have been having my problems. I also have been wondering about the door trigger input,  could someone help clarify.  I must not be looking in the right spot. Thanks J Rilla for replying.

Thanks

Brad

The door trigger wires are seperate so you need to grab both and diode isolate them. Tan is drivers door and Tan/red is pass door.

Tach is under the hood and it is BLACK/ Gray in a loom of wires that runs behind the rubber seal above the firewall. It looks like it is easier to grab from the passenger side. I have a picture of the tach, Ignition wires and door trigger wires if you want them. Just email me by clicking email in my profile. Dont PM me since I cant send attachments thru PM.

I would like to say thanks for all the help.  I was also wondering about this....

Dark Blue/Black trace wire : external trigger input

the Dark Blue/Black trace wire allows the remote start unit to be activated from an external source. The intent of this wire is to allow the unit to be controlled from a POSSE/CAR-LINK paging system or similar device.  When this wire receives a ground pulse, the unit will start the vehicle. Connect this wire to a ground pulsed output from the controlling circuit.

What i don't get is the "POSSE/CAR-LINK paging system or similar device"  what is it?  Do i have it?

Thanks in Advance

OK, are you asking if you can connect the APS so it will lock and unlock the doors? or do you want be able to use the factory keyless remotes to be able to remotely start the car via that BlueBlack input trigger wire?

I thought you meant the latter at first but then I thought you might have not connected the lock and unlock outputs from the APS unit yet.

Let me know which you want and I will inform.

Well let me clear it up.  I was trying to say that what i want to do is be able to use the aps remote to unlock and lock the doors.  I think i'll just get rid of the old dodge remotes.

I was looking for the wires for the door input triggers and was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers at grabbing them, they see to far up in the dash for me to do anything with.

Thanks in Advance

Can any one help tell me which wires I am supposed to use for the starter relay?  I know the orange from the aps,  a power wire,  but what i don't understand is theis low current wire  and so forth they talk  about.

Thanks in Advance

Brad

I have some very different information regarding the door locks on that vehicle

Source #1:

POWER LOCK: ORANGE / purple (5 wire reverse)
POWER UNLOCK: pink/purple (5 wire reverse)
Both found in the driver door harness.
With Keyless entry however, lock uses positive trigger, and unlock requires 5-wire reverse and can be found at the central timer module to the right side of the steering column, lock is ORANGE / green, unlock is pink/green.

Source #2:
ORANGE / Purple and Pink/Purple (just as above) and they are both 5 wire reverse but can be found at 10 pin connector in access hole in drivers kick panel. Nothing to be said about keyless entry models though.

Source #3:
I believe I sent you a picture of the lock wires, but the picture said dor the year 2000. The picture was listed under the 98 Ram, even though the picture reads 2000, so it is worth looking for the keyless entry module for those wires. It may actually be the central timer module like source #1 called it.

I am not sure how the APS works with the starter relay: I assume you are refering to the starter kill relay. It is an optional hookup and I actually dont recommend that you use it. I have had numerous problems with Dodge vehicles when cutting the starter wire and installing a starter kill relay. Check engine lights that when scanned were tripped as transmission problems and some other wierd stuff. You might want to consider an Ignition kill switch instead, but I would stay away from cutting the starter wire to avoid the hassle. I dont think it would harm you truck to do it, but it can be a pain in the arse. I think the computer uses the starter wire to communicate with the transmission or something like that so it doesnt like what it sees when the wire is cut.
