I have the avantguard 4 installed in my 1992 ford explorer. IM trying to wire my headlight strobes to run when the alarm is engaged. I will be using a relay of coarse. The problem is i cant find a +12 when alarm is engaged and a 0 or negative when disengaged. Any ideas?

Every lead that i find has very low volts, and when activated pulse , or its just a constant 12votls.

+12 when going off, triggered, would be the same as the siren wire.

I'm not positive, but I believe the siren output on an AG4 is data so he can't use that.

Yes, the siren wire hooks to the data port.....

Use the yellow wire. It's pulsed (-) out when the siren goes off (but not while arming and disarming). You can program it to be constant output as well.

If I understand correctly you want the strobes to be on the whole time your car is armed. If this is correct, here is my suggestion. First look on your alarm to see if you have a wire (usually orange) that is negative when armed. This wire will be used to activate an outboard starter kill relay. If this wire is present then you can use that wire to activate a relay. ------------- dc-auto

Can i use a negative lead to run the relay? I was kinda under the impression i needed a posotive lead for it to work..or is that not true? The way it is now is the relay is controlling the power (+) to the strobes, and if i use a negative from the alarm to activate...will that have any effect? Thanks for the help and replys, much appreciated. -Justin

I don't know how you have it wired right now but here is how I would wire it. If your 12volts for the lights are already on a relay then I would make your 86 pin constant 12volts and your 85 pin would be the negative from the alarm and/or switch. if you want to be able to use a switch.
