I hooked up an Avital 2200 to my 1988 Ford F150, and hooked up door lock actuators in each door. I tested out the drivers side door, to make sure it worked before i hooked up more wires on the alarm (other than the ignition, ground, siren, and about 75% of the other wires) and everything worked perfect. I then ran wires to the passenger side door lock actuator and hooked up the rest of the wires excpet the starter kill, and now the alarm goes off when power goes to it, but it sounds like a bad ground (which i checked the ground and it seems to be good), and my key pad will not shut it off. The only way I could turn it off was either unplug the fuse, or turning on the igintion seemd to shut it up too. i am so confused on what happened. Hopefully someone can help me.

did you ground it to actual chasis ground, or a wire that tested to be ground? bear in mind that many wires are +12v with ignition or lights on but will show a ground signal when off.
also, an error that i've made myself in the past is grounding the BLACK/ white wire (domelight supervision) by mistake instead of the black....plain old carelessness.

Yeah, I gronded directly to the chassis, and still nothing. I also have done that (dome light supervision wire too) in the past. I still am clueless as of why my alarm is acting up. The reason I know it worked, is when i hooked up the door lock actuators to the alarm, i hooked up what was needed to check and see (pwoer, ground, etc.). The key pad worked, and the door locks worked, plus the alarm armed and disarmed. I still have no idea.

best thing to try is to start undoing your connections one by one until it starts working normally again. also, what's the condition of your battery? can your vehicle start up effortlessly? are the battery terminals tight and corrosion free? howabout the ground point of your battery to the chasis?

Yeah, it looks like i'll have to try that. My battery is brand new, and the truck starts up first try with hardly any effort. I was just hoping I would not have to do that

check for emergency override switch. does that work?

the emergency override switch is also the valet switch. they're are the same thing, just used differently for different situations. situation 1: you take your car to the dealership and you don't want to leave the remote with them, put it into valet. (no security, l.e.d. light stays on steady red) situation 2: you go swimming with your remote, remote fails to disarm the alarm. so you open the car door the old fashioned way (with your key), the alarm then goes off, get in the car, locate the switch, turn your key forward until the dash lights go on, press the switch and the alarm shuts off. or, just read your owner's manual ------------- do it right the first time....less warranty work=more money!:)
