Hi All.  I just purchased this car and the Viper?? alarm is driving me nuts.  So much that I just want to get rid of it altogether.  I have found the black box under the steering column panel but do not know what to do from there.  Is there a simple way of just bypassing the alarm altogether or will I have to re-wire the whole thing back to factory spec?

Another question I have is how to remove the cdplayer in there?  When I got the car, the face plate was gone.  According to the previous owner, it never worked properly.  I also found wires for a subwoofer leading into the trunk which I would like to remove.  I think if I get rid of all these electronic devices, I can better troubleshoot the electrical problems I am having right now.

Many thanks.

Witht he Viper system, find the CPU and harness and cut all the wires off and tape off the ends. If the installer put in the starter disable relay, you will have to find the starter wire and reconnect this wire so that if doesn't pass through the relay so you can start the car. The wire your looking for off the ignition cylinder is BLACK/ WHITE and will be cut two somewhere after the key cylinder but for sure under the dash within 6 inches of the cylinder.

As far as the stereo goes, it depends on which CD Player you ahve. You will need special keys to remove the CD player that slip into the sides of the deck that releases the locking tabs. Do you know what kind of CD player this is ? The wires going to the sub amp you don't have to worry about because once the CD player is removed and the RCA and the remote wire are disconnected, it will be dead wires.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I had another look under the steering wheel and the black box I found had a marking 795T.  A google search found it to be a paging system.  I am guessing that that is not the CPU you speak of.

I also found another device, wrapped in some sort of foam pad.  I did not want to rip the padding off to view any markings.  Would this be the CPU then?  Or would it be someplace else?

Again, thanks for your help.

If it is a factory cd player....

This is my dilemna.  I have no clue what it is but I appreciate your input and will check there.  Worse comes to worse, I'll just get a blank for the slot and put it in there.  I like music but not that much.

If the person had a sub and RCA's chances are it's an aftermarket ( not 100 % sure unless I were there ), but in most cases, the person would have had RCA outputs from the stereo ( unless they used a LOC for the amplifier ). Are there ary markings on the front of the player now ? Like a HONDA printed on the front of the CD player ?

Sometimes when someone sells a vehicle, they take out the aftermarket system they had in there and replace the OEM one in it's place, but have severed the connection from the OEM harness to the OEM deck. If this is the case, then just take out the CD player as per bobk's instructions and check the rear harness for wear or frayed wires.

The foam pad would be the shock sensor ( my guess ) and if your not too keen on cutting wires, then do this instead, find the fuse for the 795T ( it will have one or two ) and remove them. Now, try and start your car. If it starts, then the installer didn't install a kill relay. If the car doesn't start, then you have to find the starter wire as I described above and reconnect the starter wire. After reconnecting, try to start the car again and if it does, then leave the fuses out of the CPU and leave everything else in the car. It won't harm anything if you leave the system in the car without fuses. It will not do anything to the vehicle as far ashow it drivers or performs.
