I am installing a K-9 alarm unit on a relative's 1994 Chevy Z-71. The unit has keyless entry function on it also, just 2 wires that send negative (-) pulses. This truck has the 5-wire reverse polarity (rest on ground) type door locks. I have looked everywhere at diagrams to wire this using 2 relays, and they are all the same. I wired it exactly like the diagram and double and triple checked my wiring and everything matched, but every time I put a fuse in on my +12V wire, it blows the second that it touches both terminals. Anybody know what I may be doing wrong. Also, I did not purchase the relays, my friend did, and they look like the right relays, but the center pin does not say 87a, the top and center pin both say 87 but I've never seen one that didnt have an "always on" pin. I assumed the center pin was the "A". Is this right or do I have the wrong relays. One last thing, I do not have a have a harness for the relay to plug to, so I just hooked female blade terminals to the wires and hooked them to the relay that way. Is that OK? or do I need the relay harness? PLEASE HELP!!! THANKS!

The relays aren't the correct ones. You must use a SPDT relay that has the center terminal #87a. Recheck the relay wiring after new ones are installed.

use a DLS with two relays....
the DLS will plug into the red plug on the alarm and then you just wire up the rest of the wires...it will take you about 5-10 mins. to door the door locks....let me know if you cant find the parts.....
