I'm installing a Compustar AWSS-AS alarm on my 2000 Honda Prelude, and have a few questions. I'm trying to find all the needed wires and found almost all of them except a few...
First, does this car have an automated trunk release? I want to open my trunk with the remote, but I can't seem to find the wire for this. I found the trunk trigger wire, but no trunk release wire.
Second, I'm not sure about the door locking on this car. I found 2 wires on the right side in the kick panel. They are for the passenger door and don't test for anything for the driver's. I'm not sure where are the wires for the driver's lock/unlock. The wire guide on this web site says it is WHITE/ Red (lock) and Lt.GREEN/ Red in Driver's Door Boot. Where is the Driver's Door Boot? I found these wires coming out of the door, under the fusebox. Unfortunately I couldn't test them, as there is no harness, I'd have to cut them to do it. So are these the ones? If yes, then would I have to connect my alarm's door lock/unlock outputs to the driver's and passenger's side and isolate them? Can I just simply connect to one of the doors? When I lock or unlock the door at one side, it also unlocks or locks at the other side as well. So is there a point to seperating them or can I just run it to one door only?
Door trigger. It is at the same place where the driver's lock/unlock, just not sure if it is correct. Does anyone know for sure if it's the one or not?
And do I have to use any relays for this install??
I know this is a lot of questions, but hope someone will help me out.

Forgot to mention the door trigger wire color. It is WHITE/ Black (got it from another chart). The chart on this site says it is BLACK/ White and is at the Factory Alarm Connector...but I don't have a factory alarm.

go into your trunk and see if there's a motor for releasing the trunk lid. if it's there, it will be on the lid side, not the bumper side. usually though, most of the 2000 preludes that i've seen does not have a pwr trunk release motor, in which case you'll need to add one yourself if you want that feature. i suggest purchasing the factory one since it bolts in place perfectly and makes for a super easy install.
door trigger should be BLACK/ white, not WHITE/ black. it shouldn't matter if you don't have a factory alarm. the factory alarm connector should be located under the driver's side dash to the left of the steering column nearly directly above the driver's kick panel. it's not all that easy to spot on that car, but if it's not been touched before, it's usually wrapped with some bright blue tape. if you find it, there's not much slack length of wire to work with, but you'll find door trigger, trunk trigger, pwr lock/unlock, and other cool wires all there.
good luck!

Do you think Honda makes a factory power trunk release for my car even though it doesn't come from the factory like that? I searched for that motor and didn't find it...someone also told me they don't come with a power trunk release.
And I will check that alarm connector! Hope I can find it. I still have to find driver's lock/unlock and trigger wires. And about the door trigger wires, would I connect my alarm to either one of them, passenger or driver door trigger, or do I have to connect to both of them?

i know that honda makes a factory pwr trunk release motor for your car because i've installed one before. however, i don't know the part # nor if it's a prelude part. it might be the one meant for a 1998 to 2001 accord. the one that i installed was brought to me by the customer and it fit perfectly in place. he said he bought it from honda, and it did indeed look similar to the one from an accord (i had a 1999 accord to compare it to). it's the entire latch mechanism in one unit, so it's not easy to tell the difference between the one with the motor and the one without. if there's only 2 wires leading to it, then there's no motor. if there's more, then there's a motor inside.
for the door trigger wires, that one BLACK/ white wire should be an indicator for both doors. you should not need to find another one. good luck!

There is only 2 wires leading to the lock, so no powered trunk release for me.
As for the factory alarm connector, I just looked and couldn't find anything wrapped in a blue tape. If I take pictures of under the dash, would you be able to tell where this connector is?

it would be difficult to describe in words. in the general area on the left side under the dash, try to find a plastic connector similar in size and shape to the one connected to the factory h/u. it shouldn't be connected to anything, and the end of it is wrapped in blue tape. but that's only the case if it hasn't been touched before. not sure if other people have worked on your car before or not, so i can't say with any certainty that it's there.

When I looked yesterday, there was something suspicious, a WHITE/ clear connector (yeah, about the size of the hu connector) taped to a big loom going from fusubox to the steering column. However, it was taped in black, and it looked very much like a factory tape. So this could be it. May be the Prelude you were working on was messed with before and taped with a blue tape? :)
