The diagram chart listed for the 2000 Durango on this site is not correct for the 02 Durango.  I would like to know if anyone has the correct wiring chart (for Alarm/Remote Start with Doors and Windows etc.. Installation) for the 2002 Durango...?

I contacted WireMagic, but apparently they do not have a "one time, DIY," program........

Can anyone help?

Notes:
NOTE:  Chrysler vehicles that use a gray ignition key have an immobilizer system that needs to be bypassed when remote starting. Use DEI part number 555C or 555U.  *1 Lock is negative trigger thru a 820 ohm resistor. Unlock is negative trigger thru a 330 ohm resistor. MUST use relays.  *2 The Central Timer Module is in the driver kick panel.  *3 The driver door trigger is tan in connector 2, pin 15. The passenger door trigger (and rears) is tan/red in connector 2, pin 13. Use both and diode isolate each. See directfax document #1076 for wiring information.  *4 Arm is negative trigger thru a 644 ohm resistor. Disarm is negative trigger thru a 1565 ohm resistor. MUST use relays. This wire will also lock the doors, and it will unlock with a double pulse.  *5 On the 5.9L models use BLACK/ gray at the ignition coil. The 4.7L models have an ignition coil for each cylinder, use the wires that is NOT GREEN/ orange at one of the coils.  *6 The Powertrain Control Module is on the passenger fender.

I did this same install and am having problems with the door triggers, I used the tan and the tan/red, diode isolated them and what is happening is approx 5 minutes after setting the alarm the alarm goes off, I verified my wiring, tested the diodes I am using 1N4001, if I disconnect the door trigger the alarm does not go off, so I know the problem is related to the doors, need help.

Thanks

goto the yellow wire in the middle plug bottom right of connector of the ctm in the drivers kickpanel this should clear up your problem . it is the domelight wire depending on your alarm you might get a 2nd chirp saying doors are open but this is due to the domelight fading out slowly. good luck

I'm studying the alarm Information (CS2015FM) and see that they are suggesting the use of relays for this setup.. I can’t figure out why? Can some explain the need for relays in a single wire, Negative trigger, system when the alarm will send the negative signal on its own…?

You need relays for this sytems because you want to isolate the lock and unlock signals that have the resistors in line so that they do not interfere with each other's function. If you use just one wire then you won't be ablr to lock nor unlock the doors because the resistor value will be cumulative of the two resistors you installed in the wires.

Hopfully this will come through ok......

Man that is wierd, I think ZoneAlarm IS messing me all up... Sorry About that

Hmmm How would the values be cumulative if I have two wires from the Alarm, and only one wire from the Car?  Can't you just plug in the appropriate resistance to each of the wires from the alarm to the single wire on the car (one for unlock and the other for lock

Doesn't the alarm pulse only the appropriate wire for either lock or unlock with-in itself?

Please help me understand

Hmmmmm,

Looking through this great wonderfull site, I notice the diagram below:  I guess this would also work?

the reason for the relays is to get a solid chasis ground not the 300-500ma ground out of most alarm brains also when using resistors inline you need a full 12v ground because if you start with a lower voltage you are just going to redude it farther than the specified resistor is stated for. make sense/?????

Makes perfect sense,

However may I ask if this is a peripheral reason for using relays or is this the MAIN reason for use relays..?

I just don’t understand the need to isolate the two, if the brain is using two internal relays (or triac’s which I guess why you would not get a full ground signal) to power each individually……?

I’m not trying to “get out of” using relays, I just want to understand the theory behind this, I guess…

Using the yellow wire caused the doors not to lock (aftermarket door locks), the delay dome light was causing the alarm to think the door was still open, if I turned the dome light off via the dash switch then the doors would lock all the time even with the doors open. Solved the problem by using the door ajar wires, diode isolated them and used a relay like posted for the Windstar.
Everything working now.

gentleman what type of alarm i have never had that issue with the durango or dakota. i did have a different issue with a durango today a 2003 the car wont lock if the parking lights are on. the ctm is telling it not to lock i guess since door triggers and locks in same computer. this is with the driver door open only.

Was the key in the ignition, the doors won't lock electrically if the key is in. My alarm is a Crimestopper CS2001, my install was in a 2002 Dakota, I jumped on the Durango post because the problem I was having was really bugging me for several months and the Durango and Dakota has the same wiring. I am still not sure why the alarm would go off a couple of minutes after setting the alarm, the relay solved the problem, just wish I knew why, this is the second alarm brain, Crimestopper replaced the original but they both did the same.
