< language=>I recently acquired an '02 Monte Carlo SS from a
private party.  The car has on it, a 'Valet' (Model
561T made by Directed Electronics) remote start.
Activation is integrated with the GM key fob, just
click 'lock' 3 times and <enter Dorothy joke here>.
The previous owner demonstrated to me that it worked.
I even tried it at home, once.  Of course, it no
longer works for some reason, probably because I went
to go show my wife how great my car is.  She was duly
impressed.

Here is what happens.  I click lock 3 times.  The
headlights come on, the interior accessories run (I
can hear my radio), and I can hear the fuel pump
prime.  At this time the car should crank and start,
but instead nothing.  The car never cranks.  The
system must see the engine isn't running, and repeats
it's process (twice more), but each time it should
crank the engine...deafening silence.

Does anybody know how to trouble-shoot these things?
I know it worked when I bought it.  I bring it home
and a week later...nothing.

Could Passlock have anything to do with it?  Is there
a relay that cranks the car that could be bad? (I
assume it engergizes a relay to crank the car and
perhaps the relay went bad?) Anything I should check?
Anything specific to look for? I made sure the car was
in park, no brake or parking brake on, doors closed,
ect...

I would appreciate any information and help anyone

could give to me regarding troubleshooting this.

put the key in the ign. and try it again.....if it works then the bypass is not working.....also look under the hood and see there is a pin switch....if so, make sure it is working..............
