I have a Delta Security 5005 installed in my 99 Camry. Problem is the valet/programming push button switch got broken off. I bought a replacement at an electronics shop and it is regular off momentary on when you push it. this seems to be the case.

Problem is when I push it 5 times within 5 seconds of starting wich is supposed to get you into programming mode, I do not get there.

Anyone have a suggestion why? Do I have the wrong switch?

If I remember correctly, you should push 5 times within 5 seconds after turning the key to the ignition position, not after starting.
