Hi Im new to this forum so bare w/me pls. 2 years ago I installed an aps-785 on my 98Accord and it was kool. Now I just intalled another one on my 97Tahoe. My problem is that when I use the remote start the service engine light turns on, but when I reset it n start the car with just the key everything is fine.  Any Ideas?????

Oh yeah I didnt use ignition 3 could that be it?

You may have to isolate the starter wire from the remote starter unit. Wire in a relay  SPDT like this:

  • 85:  Starter output from remote starter
  • 86: Ground out when running
  • 87 Vehicle starter wire
  • 30 : 12 volt fused constant
  • 87a: NOT USED

I tried using the remote start w/ the key in the ignition in the on position and the service light dont come on.

did you power the second ignition. and does it shift out of first gear when it is running off the key?

I powered up

constant 12v+

starter

Ignition1

Ignition2

Accessory

everything works fine except the servise light comes on and my truck gets slugish on take off. When I reset it n just use the key eveything is fine.
