wut does it mean when the wire is at the coil like the tach wire???? i am not sure where this is...please help thanx

coil- car w/ distributor has a single (internal or external) coil. the fire or ignition comes from the coil being distributed using a "rotor" and a "distributor".
to test for a tach:
red probe- 12volt(+) DC
black- to a suspected tach wire

no specific car....just wondering wut it meant....i thought u meter the tach wire with the red to the tach wire and black to ground set to AC ?

Yup, red lead to suspected tach wire, BLACK/ com lead to ground and meter set to AC voltage.
