I am installing an SR5000 in an older vehicle (1968 Mustang) that doesn't need or support the remote start function. I would like to completely omit the satellite relay and its harness, but I am confused by something in the manual.

It appears from all the wiring information that the yellow wire on this harness is the controller's ignition sensor, used to trip the alarm on Zone 5 and to sense ignition-on for programming, bypass, etc. I had planned to connect this wire directly to the ignition-on wire.

The manual says in several places that the (heavy gauge) pink wire in this harness must be connected for the override, programming, etc. to function. As nearly as I can tell, the pink wire passes the ignition-on signal (+12V) directly to the yellow wire except when the remote-start function is engaged.

Is this correct? If I omit the whole remote-start harness, will connecting the yellow ribbon wire directly to the ignition-on wire allow the alarm functions to work correctly?

Ad(thanks)vance...

i dont use that brand, but some alarms will use that harness as the main alarm inputs as well...why not just an alarm instead of a combo unit.....

I've had good luck with the brand, and I don't know of any alarm-only models that have all of the other features and incorporate the two-way fob. I want the advanced control, programming and alarm features, just not the remote-start.
