I'm trying to help my friend with his car... Hes got a 300zx twin Turbo.... He just installed a new turbo timer... after he takes the key out of the ignition the car continues to run for approx. 2 mins... he needs his alarm to arm after that.... its supposed to arm 30 seconds after the car turns off but since the install of the turbo timer it doesnt? What do we do?

Passive arming should still occour once the alarm sees the +15 ignition turn off( when the turbo timer stops). I wonder if the alarm is aborting the passive arming because the delay of 2 mins is too long.

I cant think of a way around this myself...

Most alarms systems monitor the voltage off the primary ignition wire to engage the passive arming feature. Try to piggyback the primary ignition wire and the 12 volt switched igntion wire from the turbo timer and see what happens. When the turbo timer shuts off and there's no power going to it... the 2 minutes should start from this point on for the alarm system.

why not add what we call a' turbo timer bypass' relay ?

This allows the vehicle to still run when key is turned off and allows the alarm to arm normally. For it to work, your alarm shouldn't have 'current sense' turned on (if it does, the alarm will sense the vehicle shutting down and activate the alarm).

locate the ignition wire that your turbo timer is hooked to. Cut this wire, key side of the point the turbo timer ign. wire is connected to.

Use a high quality relay and wire as below:

85 : to ground.

86 and 87 linked together. These also go to key side of ign and the alarms ign input wire.

87a : turbo timer ignition sense / feed

30: engine side of ign. wire

A 1amp diode between 87 and 87a to provide 12 'sense' to turbo timer. Diode stripe to 87a.

How it works: key is turned on, the relay trips and connects 87 and 30 . Car starts as per normal and the alarm sees 12 volt down its ign sense wire. The timer sees 12v via the diode. Key is turned off, relay drops out ( 87a and 30 are connected) and turbo timer kicks in keeping the vehicle running. The alarm no-longer sees 12v and allows it to arm.

The turbo timer bypass relay sounds like it will work..... He wanted the alarm to arm after the 2 min period that the timer kept the car running... im goign to give it a try and see if he likes the way this works.....
