Hi, this is the first time I have been to this site and I am in need of some answers.  I purchased my used 2001 Honda Accord last week.  It came with the orignal keyless entry.  I worked it into the deal that when I negotiated the car they would install a remote starter for me.  They installed the remote start on to the original keyless entry pad that comes with the car.  My question is when I remote start the car I am unable to lock the doors and they said that the only way they can get that function to work is if they change it so that when the car is remotely started and I want to get into the car, I have to use the key in the keyhole to unlock the door. (I am just worried that in the winter time the locks will freeze).   My car before (Hyundai Santa Fe)  this one had remote start on the original keyless entry pad and I did not have this problem.  I used to hit unlock/lock to start the car so it would lock the car.  The keyless entry pad i have now to do the remote start you are to hit unlock (3x).  Has anyone ever heard of a remote starter that will not lock the car doors when it is running by that function? I would think this should be a safety feature.  Any responses would be of great help.

P.S. I do not know what brand remote starter they used.

That is a possibilty depending on the type of remote start and how the installer programed the keychain. Other than that I am not really sure of your question.

first off....I would love to know what button he used on the original honda remote.

and second.....that installer is not to bright!!......when the car is running with or without the remote starter........the original remote DOES NOT function, try it....start the car with the key and try to lock or unlock the doors on that original remote. When installing a starter, they usually come with there own remote.

When I install a starter, I always put the functions of the original remote on the remote starter remote.

go back to that dealer and give them sh*t.......they will never change, those F@#kers....just to save a buck!!!
