I just purchased a Compustar alarm (SSR model) and plan on installing this into a manual transmission.  After reading the installation instructions I noticed the jumper wire (manual/automatic transmission jumper wire) was already cut!  Can I just reconnect the wire so I can set the alarm up for a manual transmission?  Will this damage the alarm? The installation instructions warn not to do this for some reason...  They'll void the warranty if the jumper wire is reconnected.

 If you purchased it new, then I would take it back...... No doubt about it..... Take it back....

Carnut - The dealer exchanged the unit for me.  Apparently reconnecting the jumper doesn't do any damage.  They just don't like it being done for warranty purposes.  Thanks for the help - e

I believe that the alarm system that you have purchased also has remote start built in. Most manufacture does not recommend remote start on manual transmission because of safety reason. If your car is parked and is left in gear and you push the remote start, the car is going to take of and create havoc, this could even cause death in some instance. This could be the reason why the manual portion of your alarm is disabled.
