hey, im installing a alarm/remote start combo on my 1985 gsl-se mazda rx-7 (yes its fuel injected ;) ) ig ot everything to work, i got the tach sensing wire hooked up and know its getting a good signal from the tach
the engine will start then immediatly turn off and try again
itried the "smart sense" mode which looks for a voltage drop after the car starts and still the same problem
i will paypal 10 dollars to the first person that can help me get this f**ker working
I had to reprogram the unit for tach mode,it was a new version so the procedure was different, check and make sure there isn't any upate info in the box.
by the sounds of it......it is not a tach problem....if it was, the starter would stay engaged.
see if there is a reset on your unit, tell me what type of unit it is? disconnect the brake and try it.
sounds like your unit is defective
here is the place to catch your tach
TACH SENSOR | YELLOW /GREEN | AT IGNITER |
try using an injector.

i tapped my tach signal wire to the wire coming off the coil that gives the tach its signal, so i dont think i have a problem there,
my unit is one of the cheap ebay ones, made by impact security USA
here is a link to the auction

I don't see the problem being the tach. Try to hot wire the car manually.....(using jumpers)power up ignition and acc, then tap 12volts to the starter and see if it starts.
try this---->from your unit, just connect----->POWER, GROUND(pick a good place),IGNITION, ACC, STARTER, TACH. and then try it.If you have the same problem, unit is no good.
there is something that is knocking off the starter.....i suggest you test all wires again
make sure your dip switches are in the correct position......move them even if you think it is correct....sometimes the switch is not fully dipped
by the looks of it.....1=on, 2=on, 3=on, 4=off.
Let me know
i have the brown wire and the yellow wire going to the same place on the bottom plug on the left, could that be the problem?
Are you shure the grey is a tach wire? It says "spark plug signal". Maybe you need to give this wire 5 or 6 turns around any spark plug cable (like a coil) to get the tach signal . I have a system that works this way.
according to my notes.
IGNITION 1 | BLACK/ WHITE (+) | IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS |
IGNITION 2 | BLACK / YELLOW (+) | IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS |
yellow goes to ignition 1(BLACK/ white)
brown goes to ignition 2(BLACK / YELLOW)
yes that can be your problem, they should NOT be connected together.
p.s. mito5 might be right......try wrapping the gray wire around the spark plug wire...that could be it too.
let me know
Slicksam
was the unit working at one time or have you always had a problem with it????
do you have all of the ing. wires hooked up?????
