My friend just bought this car from a dealership and he's having a problem with the alarm. He says when he arms the alarm with the transmitter, it arms normal. About 5 seconds later the alarm goes off, as if the alarm was triggered. He says he then hits the arm button again and then it arms, and has no problems. Thanks in advance for any help.

do you know for sure that it is a factory alarm????????

what does the transmitters look like???

is there a siren or does the horn honk???

I just talked to him and he said he's pretty sure it's a factory alarm. He said that when it goes off the horn honks, and the lights flash. Also, when he firsts arms it, the led inside starts flashing, one blink at a time. After the alarm goes off, and he clicks to arm it again, the led starts flashing twice between pulses.

He said it says GM on the Transmitter

ok, it might say gm on the transmitter, however the had add on units for factory keyless entry units so that you can turn it into an alarm.

with the problem that he is having, i kinda think its an add-on....have him look under the dash to see if there the brain is under there...if so, have him write down any info that he can find......then post your findings....
