i'm installing a hornet 553t this weekend (in a 98 dodge ram) and can't find the neutral safety switch. The database said it's on the ignition column but there's only one BLACK/ white wire and that's to the ignition. What does the neutral safety switch do?

Is it a problem if i just don't install it?

Does the car start when in reverse or drive? If the answer is no then just ground the alarm's wire.

probably not, it's an automatic

what if it does start when in reverse or drive? that probably shouldn't matter since the remote will usually be used when the key isn't in the ignition, and the shift column is locked when the key isn't in the ignition, so can i ground the wire either way?

I am relatively sure your truck will only start in nuetral and park. Just ground the wire.
