I installed a remote starter in a 2003 Explorer Sporttrac and I am having a problem with the anti-theft. First off, the RS works with the key in the ignition, so I know the RS is working. 1st I tried a PKU-F2 from Trilogix. I programmed it in according to the directions. Here is where it gets weird. If I use the antenna ring, the bypass doesn't work, but if I put the box (minus the antenna)up against the front of the ignition cylinder it works. If I plug in the antenna and hold it away from the ignition with the box against the ignition, it will not start. Remove the antenna and presto, it works. I tried several antennas with the same results. I also tried using a spare key in the box with an antenna, same results. Any suggestions besides removing the transponder chips. The customer doesn't want me to ruin the keys. Thanks in advance.
I use the Peripheral #TBFD3 or Omega #DB-PATS-3 Both No Keys.
I have noticed sometimes it is critical of placement of antennea wires and lead down the steering column.
Be sure you have Output DURING and After Cranking while in Remote Start to power Unit.
Been known to strap wired, relayed Key to bottom of ignition switch in a pinch..........

you might have a break in the antenna wire........I always use DEI bypass unit.........also you might have to interupt the key sense wire.........I've had a couple of explorers and escapes come back be cause all their keys have been erased.......sometimes when you remote start the vehicle and then put the factory key in the cylinder it sees to codes and erases all the keys.
