Went to install a factory alarm on a Chevy truck and found out that it has a starter disable system on it. The alarm is all factory plugs and nothing is working.

What all is involved in the starter disable system? I tried to hook up the siren to the alarm unit and the horn stayed on, No light flash for lock or unlock.

The alarm came with three plugs for factory fit. It is an upgrade alarm from keyless entry to full factory alarm. Everything should work but then saw valet switch and a separate l.e.d. light that is not on. Help! This was supposed to be a simple unplug and plug, wire up siren and mount l.e.d. and valet switch and you are done type of alarm. What all could be messed up due to the starter disable system? Can I still make all this work? The starter disable system is also factory. So if anyone knows how to bypass this system and make the factory alarm work please help!

Isn't there supposed to be a programming sequence that you have to do to initiate the change from keyless entry to alarm??

all the GM book said is to unplug the three plugs starting with the brown one then the blue and then the purple. Then after you hook up the other module hook back up in reverse! I did it the way it says but I don't know if the starter disable is a factory unit cause it had three relays in a harness hanging with no GM numders or markings. Should I try to remove this mess and then try the alarm. Could this starter disable stuff be affecting the factory alarm unit? E-mail me at undrgrndgalant@aol.com for any other suggestions!
