On my '88 Celica, I'm attempting to install a power window module. First of all though, I need to fix my driver's side window switch for the passenger window, because it'll roll the window down, but not up. The passenger side window switch will roll it up though.

I pulled off the driver's side door panel, and found that when I unplugged the harness from the window switches panel, the passenger side window switch wouldn't work(along with the driver's side switches, but that's obvious. posted_image) So I plugged the switch back in, and began testing wires. I found that one of the wires goes from ground to +12 volts when the driver's side window is going up, so that'll be the wire to cut and connect to the power window module. I tested every other wire going into the harness however, and none would give me +12 volts when my brother was rolling the passenger side window up.

So this makes me think that perhaps the passenger side window switch isn't working because the wire is damaged/cut somewhere along the path from the passenger side door to the driver's side door. Is this logical? If so, could I connect the passenger side window roll-up wire to the correct wire in the driver's side door?

Also, does anyone know if the window roll-up wires are located inside the dash/kick-panels somewhere? I tested every wire coming from the door to the rest of the car's harness and none would give +12 volts when the window was rolling up. And trying to run wires through the door rubber cover things on this car is not fun. It wasn't bad on my other Celica, but this one is very hard to do so on.

Your best place to find these wires is at the switch. Youe celica has a reverse rest at ground circuit. You need to cut the roll up wires and install the rollup unit in series.

Drivers Window Up : Green
Pass Window Up    : GREEN / WHITE

Thanks for the help. posted_image

On the driver's side, I used the green wire directly off of the switch like the diagrams say. However, I couldn't get the GREEN / WHITE wire to work for the passenger side, in either door or either kick panel. A red wire in the passenger side door worked however, so now it's in and working.

Thanks!
