I recently had a local shop install an Valet 554r in my 05 Ford Escape
The whole system worked fine the whole firat day .... on the second day when I remoted started it
1) car would start and then die on 15 - 30 secs . then restart and then die again .. this cycle would repeat several times then the system would stop trying to start the car.
2) While this was going on if you disarmed the system . and opened the door the alarm would go off.
3) it gave what I believe was a bypass warning with 1 chirp . than a second chirp .later on ...
also the door on the lcd remote flashed.
I took it back . and it was decided that the factrory system was interfering with the Valet system ...
they worked on it again .. and we tested it and it worked fine ...
NExt day ... same thing started again ..
only the alarm didn't activate every time I disarmed and opened the door
got the bypass chirp -- 1 chirp and then a delay then 1 .. and the 4 chirp tamper alert
went out to lunch and the door was tripping .. for no reason.
came home and it triggered a few times so I deactivated the doors . and it still tripped and indicated a door problem.
Ok ... if the ford system is tripping the Valet .. how do we stop it?
or is it something else?
or is there a different system I should use???
I know alot of the systems are all made my DEI.
any suggestions? I really don't think it is a bad install . shops been around a LONG time and the owner even worked on it.
any suggestions?
thanks!

the Fords have a GEM circuit that polls the vehicle ( doors included) every 30 minutes or so..... this will trip the alarm as a door trigger if you dont wire it in such a way as to prevent this.....
it's possible this may be your problem.....

Thanks for the info Kevin ..
I had hoped that it was fixed ... after they worked on it this afternoon ..
At the shop it was fine. I drove off and it armed ok .. then when I tried to remote start it the alarm went off! Oh well
deactivated it .. and when I just activate . then deactivate the the alarm it's ok ..
I'll pass your info along .. to them
maybe they have the shock sensor set too sensitive and it's tripping the alarm... i install lots of these units with no problems.....
