I have attempted to install a keyless entry on my daughters 98 Ford Taurus, real simple, got all to work but cannot get  the trunk realease to work, do I need an optional relay?  At the trunk switch I have purple / YELLOW and grey/red just like the diagrams says, any help would be greatly appreciated

More then likely you need a relay, hard to tell not knowing what keyless module you have.

gray/red and its postive. Depending on alarm, most likely need a relay.

Thanks for the response, this unit is an audiovox AA-925, purchased locally at auto zone, Once I study your diagram, I'll probably understand, I just don't understand why you can't wire in series with the switch wires

because the alarm (most likely) only outputs a 200mA negative trigger. the trunk pop on your Taurus needs +12V. hence the relay. double check in the install manual for the polarity of the channel 2 (trunk release) output. if it is negative thet use the relay like the above picture.

you are so correct, thanks for simplifying an easy fix, I never thought about  200mA as an output, since the doors all open o.k. I just figured they had the same output voltage, after reading a little more, the  doors have +12v out put and the trunk output is 300mA  ground pulsed, so relay it is. Thanks guys for the info, you really know your stuff !
